Teams of between 3 and 5 people form a board of directors and run a virtual company, making decisions that will affect the performance and share price.
After 5 simulated ‘quarters’ the team with the highest share price wins and proceeds to the next round. The winner of the national final will go onto represent Australia at the international final against 30 other countries.
The GMC is a great way for course leaders and university faculties to test their students against the real-life challenge of managing a business while also encouraging teamwork, decision making, leadership and entrepreneurial skills.
Companies can use the GMC to recruit top quality graduates or to introduce recent graduates to their colleagues through a practical business simulation. Existing staff can also benefit from mentoring a team, giving them new challenges, skills and responsibilities.
